Heisman season is still months away, but it’s never too early to take a look at who could end up on the stage in New York City at season’s end. Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa (+250) put forth an impressive season in 2018 but fell short in the voting to Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray. If Tua can stay healthy for an entire season, he could easily take home the hardware this time around and the boys here in the desert have posted odds reflecting just that.

Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence (+350) & Oklahoma transfer Jalen Hurts (+800) (previously Alabama) offer some nice value here in the betting odds.

Lawrence led the Tigers to a perfect 15-0 season and a National Championship in his freshman season. He out-shined Tua in the Title game and he is by far the biggest threat to Tua in 2019. Dabo Swinney has a true star on his hands and many pundits think he would be the #1 Overall Pick in the NFL Draft this year! The sharps backed Lawrence for MVP Honors in the Title game & his Tigers and with Tua’s documented injury history Lawrence is my guy to stand up at the Downtown Athletic Club in several months.

Hurts, who has left the Tide, is motivated to show Saban & the nation that he deserved to be the starter for ‘Bama. Hurts underdog status should shape up as the story of the year and the stat comparisons to Tua should dominate the national media throughout the season. Playing under Head Coach Lincoln Riley, Hurts now gets to play in an offense that has produced the last two winners (Baker Mayfield & Kyler Murray) and at juicy odds of 8-1 or higher Jalen deserves considerable betting attention.

Former Georgia QB & current Washington Huskie Jacob Eason (80/1) , son of former NFL QB Tony Eason & Gatorade High School Player of the Year, had to sit the entire 2018 season upon his transfer. Eason is already being hyped as the possible #1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and should he meet those expectations he could offer tremendous value at huge odds for those bettors looking to make a huge score.

For me that is easy, Ohio State transfer QB Justin Fields (+700) (previously Georgia). The odds makers have Fields third in odds, ahead of Hurts, but I think that will change as the season approaches. There is no guarantee that Fields wins the starting job and faces competition from Matthew Baldwin. Even if Fields wins the job, he could be under a fast hook should he struggle, and with only a few months in the program that could very well be the case. For me, Fields is a pass.
