Can You Hear It? Its the voices in the ‘book…The ‘Sharp’ Money Prop Bets being heard in Vegas Sportsbooks!
(In no particular order of strength)
1. QB MVP vs Team Moneyline Value
Sharps used this angle both last year with Nick Foles (6/1) and in the NCAA Title Game this year with Trevor Lawrence (4/1) & cashed both times. Why take the Rams at +120 on the ML when you get QB Jared Goff at some shops at +375? If the Rams win & McVay has an aggressive passing game plan for Goff like he called so often earlier in season how can you not like this wager which offers more value?
2. National Anthem Gladys Knight (1:55) UNDER (-135)
Seven-time Grammy Award winner Gladys Knight to sing the National Anthem. Old School + Not subscribed to ‘New School’ Theatrics = NO Elongated/Holding Notes = $$$$ on the UNDER! The Under once stood at plus money at openers but thanks to sharp action now sits with moderate juice to a quick rendition.
3. Julian Edelman OVER 80.5 Rec yards(-115)
As Vegas Whispers highlighted earlier in a feature–this week the smack talk by LAR Nickell Robey-Coleman—make TB#12’s go-to guy a guy & safety blanket in the slot a player they are targeting & pounding.
4. 1st Quarter Total Points (10.5) UNDER (-150)
This line opened at 10.5 and now sits at 10.5 (-150) & is heavily juiced after the sharps crushed this line on the angle of Tom Brady’s propensity to start slow in previous Super Bowls. Quick question: How many points have Brady and the Patriots scored in the first quarter in their previous eight trips to the Big Game? Well? The answer: THREE. Yeah, that is not a typo. Brady’s Patriots have scored three points in 8 first quarters of all his Super Bowls combined! We can also add that Belichick’s defense’s have shut out the opponent in the first quarter in three of eight Super Bowl appearances as well. Last year vs the Eagles in Super Bowl 52, Brady & the boys finally scored in a first quarter on a Stephen Gostowski field goal. If you can find a shop with 10.5 and moderate juice get down on it as the sharps love this play with the added hook!
5. First Half Total (27.5) & Game Total (56.5) UNDER
The 1st Half number opened at 28.5 with the UNDER at -120 but sharps quickly jumped on this number and the books have adjusted with a new line of 27.5 (-120). In addition, the game total which oddsmakers opened 58.5 now sits at 56.5 around town thanks to serious sharp money fading a high scoring affair this year. If you are looking to back the UNDER wait until kick-off as public money on the OVER will surely flood the books as fans pour into town & love to bet the OVER.
6. Number of Players to Throw a Pass: OVER 2.5 (-130)
As we all remember we saw this prop cash last year on the now infamous “Philly Philly” Play. This year the sharps feel has immense value with former college QB now star WR Julian Edleman attempting a pass & by now we have all seen the non-HD videos of when LAR Head Coach Sean McVay & Edelman faced off at QB back in 2006 & 2007 as members of Miami University Redhawks & Kent State respectively. On the Rams side the multi-faceted punter Johnny Hekker’s propensity to pass out of punt or field goal formations entice the sharps even more. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Hekker’s trick-play mastery called upon as he has 20 pass attempts since 2012–the most of any non-QB in the NFL during that span.
7. Highest Scoring Half: 2nd HALF (Plus OT) -0.5 Pts (-135)
This prop wager is correlated to the sharps opinion that the Patriots propensity to start slow in Super Bowls will continue and the huge adjustments both of these great coaches make at halftime to what they just faced in the first half. I could see this prop going as high as (-200) juice in some square shops by kickoff.
8. Will it be mentioned that Todd Gurley & Sony Michel were teammates at the University of Georgia: Yes (-175)
Many sharps absolutely fell in love with this prop thanks to CBS announcer Jim Nantz’s propensity to show make the TV audience aware of his pregame homework on the game & to state the obvious. This one opened at moderate odds but now sees offshore prices at those books with serious juice & this is another one that could easily close at odds of -200 or higher by game time.
